Al Geiberger recorded the PGA Tour's first sub-60 round at what 1977 event?
In the past, most golf grips were made out of rubber, which was not resistant to ultraviolet rays. Those grips would soon begin to crack and would not be of use within a short amount of time. So, to make the rubber last longer, they would add carbon, which would make the grip more resistant to ultraviolet.
But similar to pencil lead, carbon's color is black; therefore the only color available was black.
Recently, other companies have produced colored grips like Iomic. They are using a material called ABR (Thermoplastic Rubber). Iomic also thought about using ABR, however during testing, ABR showed problems with adhesiveness and was slippery when wet. Iomic therefore abandoned its use. Iomic decided rubber was an unacceptable material and looked for something totally new and more resistant to ultraviolet rays.
Iomic considered silicon, which had the softness that was ideal for grips but it had a high adhesion factor which a grip can not have. Iomic then tried elastomers. There are over 30 different elastomers. By repeated testing of different combinations, Iomic chose a combination of 5 elastomers for the Iomic grip. Iomic then added different materials for water-resistance, just the right amount of adhesiveness and friction-resistance. Elastomer's natural color is white, so Iomic can manufacture their grips in any color.
You never felt a putter grip like this one. It provides a unique combination of confidence and feel. Choose the right color and size for your game.

Comments about Iomic Putter Grips:
I started using IOMIC grips about 1.5years ago on my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 (Carbon), I then used one on my YES! Callie-f putter. I bought this grip to put onto my current gamer the SeeMore DB-4 (350g) putter. I enjoy the the smooth feel of the putter grip, some putter grip rubbers can feel bumpy or hards. Given I bought a midsize grip the top hand and bottom hand are more conistently the same size, sometimes it feels like my top hand palm is on a smaller part of the grip then the bottom hand, the taper rate I think is very conistent down the grip but not over done.

Comments about Iomic Putter Grips:
Iomic negative-iron grips are supposed to add beneficial negatively-charged particles to offset the abundant positive charges generated by electricity and artificial lighting. I do not know if it works, but 40 years of tendonitis ceased when I started wearing a negative ion and magnetic bracelet four years ago.
The grips are Japanese, and are undersized for average American hands. Order the larger mid or oversized putter grips, which generally cost a few dollars more. The extra cost is worth it.
The material wears well, and is easy to maintain in a good playing state, but it tears rather easily if you try to remove the grip and re-use it on another putter. I have replaced my cord grips, which wear out, with oversized Iomic grips that appear will outlast the old cord style.
The material is average weight. It is advertised as lighter, but only because their standard or regular grips are smaller. Less size, less weight.
Iomic makes a textured putter grip called the Absolute in addition to their larger putter grip. Put extra wraps of tape under it to make it stretch, and it is an excellent putter grip. I am using both the large and Absolute grips today.
I consider the Iomic grip to be expensive, but worth the extra cost. Effective in all weather, and outlasts rubber or cord grips. Just don't try to re-use it if you switch putters.

Q:
I have ordered your white Iomic putter grip mid size, it stated on the invoice minus ion power what is minus ion power?Asked on 5/24/2011 by Anonymous2 answers
A:
Before the advent of electric light and office machines, the negative and positive ions were balanced in nature. Today's technology invades you with positive ions. Some scientific studies have shown too many positive ions produce anxiety, irritableness, injury, and fatigue. That is why restaurants have negative ion generators on their walls. They want you to feel good and buy more food. Negative ions emitted from golf grips are supposed to make you calmer and more apt to shoot a good score. I do not know if this is true, but I started negative ion and magnetic therapy four years ago and 4 decades of tendonitis went away. It may be just superstition, but I continue to wear a negative ion and magnetic bracelet today. I have no financial interest in any of the products, but I am a physicist by training. Something is different.Answered on 3/28/2012 by Doc from Midland, TXA:
We list the product on the invoice as "Iomic Ms Putter White". the "MS" stands for Mid-Size. Hopefully this helps answer your question. Thank You!Answered on 5/24/2011 by Laura from GolfDiscount.com Sales Staff
