So let me start by saying that I've never putted on course with Scotty Camerons or the other super high end putters...I've only played around with them in-store. With that said, I'm not sure I can putt any better than I am with the Type30 putter from the sub-30 series.
To start, the construction is on-point and it is an extremely well-made putter. As soon as you hold it, you realize how solid the putter is. It also feels very well-balance with practice swings. The "icing on the cake" is fantastic design and graphics on the putter.
Beyond all of the above, though, the feel on the green is unbelievable. The insert is soft but consistent. Misshits are also very forgiving. Overall, I can roll putts nice and straight with every putt. Also, the face lines up very nicely during my set-up, making it easy to hit where i'm aiming.
Overall, I can't really say anything bad at all about this putter. As I said, I haven't hit the ultra-high-end putters on course, but I don't think they'd make much of a difference for me. I'm only an 18 handicap, but my putting is probably the best part of my game and I can often make up for sloppy tee-to-green once i'm putting. With the type30 I'm not missing any of the shorter puts (within 8 feet or so)...and when approach shots leave something to be desired, my far-away putts are still being holed in 2.
Bottom line: If you're in the market for a putter but don't want to go broke, give the sub-30 line a look. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
