- Enhanced Inverted Cone Technology - milled directly into the back of the MAX's clubface, increases the size of the COR zone - the area of the clubface that delivers high COR even on mis-hits.
- Maximum COR allowed by the USGA - made possible by the milled 455 stainless steel clubface, which is extremely thin yet extremely strong. The MAX's high COR helps generate high initial ball speed, equaling exceptional distance.
- 100% milled high-strength stainless steel clubface - employs Pull-Face construction, meaning that the head and the face are created separately. That allows TaylorMade engineers to mill both sides of the clubface, so that the Inverted Cone and grooves can be created to the exacting specifications required, and so that the face can be milled perfectly flat.
- Large clubface - the largest iron that TaylorMade has ever created, and because of that boasts the largest clubface area, which helps make the MAX extremely forgiving on mis-hits.
- Hollow top-line - allows TaylorMade engineers to save 17 grams. That weight is redistributed into the form of four tungsten cartridges that are permanently installed in the rear of the clubhead, at the toe and heel to increase MOI for maximum forgiveness.
- Low, deep-back CG position - extremely easy to launch the ball on a high, long trajectory. In fact, TaylorMade engineers strengthened the lofts of each iron in order to lower the ball flight slightly. The result is a high, powerful and penetrating trajectory that delivers the optimum combination of carry, distance and control.
