Comments about TaylorMade R1 Driver:

I found the R1 to be a FANTASTIC driver. I had the opportunity to hit it at the Seattle Golf Expo and the events center in February while looking for a new driver. This Club has the ability to adjust in so many different factors, that you can practically use it as a 3-wood if need be off the tee in the loft change settings. It had a crisp, clean feel when you connect with the ball, a beautiful sound when it connects, and DISTANCE, DISTANCE, AND MORE DISTANCE when you connect with it. It was surprisingly light for how big the club head is too..

However, I am a serious golfer. I love the game, and i treat my equipment like i treat my golf game, like i treat my woman..with love, care, humility, patience, and lots AND LOTS of practice to perfect it..

and I find that this driver, with the technology upgrades from the R11S and R11S TP, are just way more than anyone other than a SERIOUS golfer whom is looking to hit each shot perfectly and the way he/she wants it to be hit the ball with the club.

This driver is definitely a great driver, but for the price at the moment, if you're looking for a club that will give you equivilance in distance off the tee, and still give you the ability to adjust the face angle, weight configuration, and loft of the club, I'd stick with the R11, R11S, or R11S TP until the price on this club drops in about a year when they come out with their latest and greatest..

Overall Review:

FANTASTIC CLUB! Long hitting, wonderful oversized head for more club face to hit {thus more forgiving}, and a great amount of adjustment features and new technology upgrades from the R11-series drivers..

BUT..unless you have the money to spend on it, the golf game to use the adjustments correctly [thus making the club worth the money you'd spend], and are a serious enough golfer to use it enough for it to have an affect on your game..then I'd just stick with the R11-series drivers until the R1 lowers in price or you become more serious about your golf game.

Comments about TaylorMade R1 Driver:

I've tried Cobra (great), Cleveland (also great)but the R1 is just a cut above the rest. I bought an RBZ Driver when they came out on the market and I just couldn't get used to it. The R1, with the multitude of adjustments provides all of the flexibility I need and has proved its worth. The ability to adjust loft or open/close the face on the run is fantastic. The only thing I should have done on purchase was go for the Stiff Shaft, but that has now been rectified and I couldn't be happier.
