Exotics XCG7 Irons
Tour Edge’s Most Advanced Pocket Cavity Iron Design
The new Exotics XCG7 irons feature Tour Edge Golf’s most advanced pocket cavity iron design to date. Constructed from 431 stainless steel in a one-piece casting, the new Exotics XCG7 seven piece irons set provides ultimate enhanced feel and stability in a more classic-style head design.
Advanced weighting includes two tungsten weights located in the heel and toe that are bridged by a center sole cavity. The sole cavity also reduces contact area on the wedge’s sole and provides enhanced feel at impact. “We used to have two tungsten slugs in both the heel and the toe area,” according to David Glod, founder and owner of Tour Edge Golf. “But we’re using more tungsten than ever now, which creates a higher moment of inertia (MOI). It’s 10 percent higher than (last season’s) XCG6 irons.” Glod also adds that because the faces of the Exotics XCG7 irons are thicker in the center and thinner near the edges, they produce more ball speed.
The Exotics XCG7 irons are designed with a pocket cavity behind the face, leaving a small gap between the back of the hitting area and the weights. “I love pocket cavities because it’s halfway to being a hollow club,” Glod said. “You can pick weight up and move it back with a pocket cavity. In most cases the weight comes from the sole, which already has a lot of weight in it, but now with clubs like the XCG7 we’re taking some of the weight out of there and moving it farther away from the face, which increases the moment of inertia in a huge way. I’m a big proponent of wider soles and pocket cavities.”
To enhance the feel of the XCG7, Tour Edge created a three-piece, elastomer-coated badge that covers much of the back of the club. Glod said it reduces vibrations, enhances sound and amplifies feel.
Each iron is painstakingly (though Tour Edge would tell you it is definitely a labor of love) engineered for its specific task including center of gravity location, offset (progressive), blade length, face thickness, and top line thickness for a perfect blend of distance and accuracy.
Electing to put the new Exotics XCG7 irons in play will have you steeped in the latest top-shelf Tour Edge engineering and technology. Backed also by Tour Edge Golf’s lifetime warranty and exclusive 30-day play guarantee, the new Exotics XCG7 irons are a sure seven piece iron set bet to take your game to an all new level of Tour Edge accuracy and superior playability.
