What’s in the Bag: Bob Gomavitz of GolfDiscount.com

Following PGA Tour players and other men and lady tour pros, including their equipment preferences (“what’s in the bag”), is a topic of interest to many golfers. That’s why we like to cover them and highlight their golf clubs here at the 19th Hole Golf Blog.

But what about the rest of us—club pros, amateurs and other non-famous golfers of all stripes and abilities? Who are we and what’s in our bags? That, too, could be fun to share in this space.

So we’ll start with one of our own from the GolfDiscount.com team—Bob Gomavitz.

If you’re a reader of this blog, you may already know about Bob. A self-described “absolute equipment junkie,” Bob has tested lots of golf clubs and written many equipment reviews and guides for GolfDiscount.com.

What’s in Bob’s bag? Mostly TaylorMade clubs. There are a couple of exceptions. Here’s a look at his equipment setup.

A Brief Golf Biography

It’s probably also fair to call Bob Gomavitz a “golf junkie.” Here’s more about his life in golf. Bob was introduced to golf at the age of 10 and has been playing the game for more than 47 years. And he plays it very well. His handicap index is 4.6. Bob has made two holes-in-one and one “albatross” (double eagle). He plays more than 100 rounds of golf a year and has worked in the golf industry for 14 years. Of courses he has played, Bob’s favorite PGA Tour course is TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and his favorite regional course is Royal Colwood Golf Club in Victoria, British Columbia.

Lastly, Bob has played golf with Fred Couples and jazz superstar and saxophonist Kenny G, who happened to be his high-school teammate. We should all be so lucky.
