Watch this dance video of Phil Mickelson, if you dare. Because once you do, you might not be able to get it out of your head for a while—or ever.
The video is produced by Mizzen + Main, a maker of performance dress shirts and a sponsor of the 48-year-old Hall of Fame golfer. Phil has sported the button-down shirts at golf’s biggest events: the Masters, U.S. Open and the Open Championship.
In a story at Golf.com, Kevin Lavelle, Mizzen + Main’s founder and CEO, explained pitching the dance video concept to Mickelson.
“I’m not going to lie,” Lavelle said, “it was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life. He was either going to go, ‘You’re an idiot and I can’t believe I’m working with you,’ or ‘I love it and I think it’s hysterical.’ There’s really no middle ground for this concept.”
Phil, agent Steve Loy and wife Amy were in the room for the pitch. Amy laughed.
“She said, ‘Should I tell him or should you?’’ Lavelle continued. “He said, ‘Go ahead.’ She looked back at me and said, ‘Phil can do the worm.’
“At that moment, it was, ‘Oh my god we’re actually going to make this happen.’”
