The stakes were raised this week as the top 125 players began the FedEx Cup Playoffs at the Northern Trust Open in Paramus, New Jersey. Ridgewood Country Club compiles what they call the Ridgewood Championship Course, a hand-picked selection of holes from all three 9s on the property.
This week’s winner, Bryson DeChambeau, like the course set up, is also a bit unique. He uses his background in math and physics to create a set of clubs that allows him to have one swing plane. Unlike traditional golf club sets, all of DeChambeau’s clubs are the same length, the length of a standard 6 iron.
Bryson made one update to his bag from his win earlier this season at The Memorial Tournament, his driver. After working with his team to dial in the driver lie and shaft choice, PGATOUR reported that Bryson was 10th in strokes gained tee to green at the Northern Trust and hit 67% of fairways.
The only players to win an NCAA Championship, U.S. Amateur and at least three PGA TOUR events before their 25th birthday …

DeChambeau turned pro in 2016 and the Northern Trust Open marks his 3rd career victory. The win also catapults him to the top of the FedEx Cup standings and placed him squarely in Jim Furyk’s sights for an at-large pick on the Ryder Cup team this fall.
