- Medinah Country Club – No. 3 Course
- Medinah, Illinois
- Par: 72

Situated in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, rain saturated the No. 3 Course at Medinah Country Club all week and players took full advantage. Considered one of the “big boy” courses on Tour, however in soft conditions, the top-70 players turned a tough track into their playground.
It’s safe to say, the record books were not safe this week. Thursday saw two players, Justin Thomas and Jason Kokrak, tie the existing course record of 7-under 65, but that was just the beginning to the carnage.
By the end of Friday’s rounds, a new course record was posted. Hideki Matsuyama’s 9 birdie, 9 par round carded him a 9-under 63. However, before the ink was even dry in the record books, Justin Thomas snatched the title back.
By the end of Friday’s rounds, a new course record was posted. Hideki Matsuyama’s 9 birdie, 9 par round carded him a 9-under 63. However, before the ink was even dry in the record books, Justin Thomas snatched the title back.
Thomas eagled the par 5 10th and birdied the par 5 14th before providing the shot of the tournament on 16. Sitting 181 yards from the hole, JT launched an 8-iron on an aggressive line. The ball took two hops on the green before burying into the center of the cup. Justin ended Saturday in the lead, it was his tournament to lose on Sunday.
Heading into Sunday’s round it seemed pretty apparent that Justin Thomas was going to win the BMW and secure the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings heading into the Tour Championship, but all players still had a lot to play for.
