The Northern Trust
Liberty National Golf Course, which is situated in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty and One World Trade Center, played the perfect setting for Captain America’s return to the winner’s circle.
In the first event of the FedEx Cup playoffs, Patrick Reed outlasted Abraham Ancer, Harold Varner III, Jon Rahm and the rest of the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup standings.
The win, Patrick’s 7th career victory and first of the 2019 season, boosted him to second in the FedEx Cup Standings heading into the BMW Championship. By virtue of those points, he has also secured his position in the TOUR Championship.
Since the beginning of the FedEx Cup, earning points has been at a premium; however, points have become even more valuable with this year’s format change. Whoever is leading the standings after the BMW Championship will begin the TOUR Championship at 10-under par.
