Jason Day is the 7th ranked golfer in the world. This seems to be happening to me a lot lately, but at first glance, I find that to be quite surprising. Didn’t he just win his first tournament about 45 minutes ago? Of course, it’s been more time than that, but it feels like I’ve been aware of him as a professional golfer for a very small collection of time. Then again, there’s no denying the performances he put on at the Masters and U.S. Open this season. Big time play get rewarded with big time, rankings, it seems, and after digging a bit deeper into his resume, I’m not about to argue.
There’s no doubt the guy can play. He recently put the TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 in his bag, and has been ripping it ever since, producing results that speak for themselves. And no matter how well he’s able to navigate the fairways with his ghost white 1-Wood, he’s also unquestionably a good guy, and a player you enjoy rooting for. His press conference after the Masters tournament comes to mind. The happiness and gratitude he expressed, how he praised his playing partners and fellow competitors. The guy was just genuinely pleasant to listen to. The cool accent didn’t hurt, but the attitude was unwavering.
So here’s to the good guys. And here are the instruments Jason Day uses while picking apart golf courses:
