Big Bertha V Series Fairway Wood

The Fastest, Most Friendly Bertha

Callaway engineers built the new Big Bertha V Series Fairway Wood to provide speed, distance, speed, versatility, friendly forgiveness, and even more speed. They managed to pack all that punch into one fairway wood head by utilizing a forgiveness-enhancing Modern Warbird soleplate and adding new high launch designs destined to create higher, softer landing shots from any lie. The V Series Fairway Wood is faster and hotter off the face than any Callaway FW yet, and they can be played from anywhere on the course, from tee to green and everywhere in-between. One last thing, remember your old friend, the legendary Heavenwood? There's a new special V Series option for that as well.

  • Being an absolute equipment junkie, I was approached by to write reviews and share my findings with you. Having been chosen to write a number of Taylormade product reviews for I felt that this is an excellent opportunity to put my knowledge to use.

The Takeaway

Back in the day, Callaway owned the fairway business with a series of different models, but mainly with the Big Bertha line up. This is the modern day version that will help a whole bunch of people who struggle with their fairway metals. The head is on the large side which instills confidence to those who feel the smaller heads look too hard to hit. The V Sole will help off the deck and out really help on tougher lies. The club is super light and produces a very high ball flight, but feels great and has plenty of forgiveness.

Off The Tee

I flat out could not live with the height that I was getting off the tee. The club is so easy to elevate that the 15 degree head that I was testing played more like 21 degrees and obviously would not produce the type of distance that I would be needed from a 3 wood off the tee.

Off The Deck

Great turn interaction, quick elevation, and easy to hit provided great results if you like your ball flight high.

Out Of The Rough

With it’s modern day V Sole and excellent elevation the BB V series was right at the top of the list for playing out of the rough.

Who's It For?

Mid High to Higher handicaps with mid to slower swing speeds, and need help elevating the ball will love the Big Bertha V Series.

Final Take

Even though its not a club that will make it to my bag, it is a must try for those that need help getting the ball up off the deck or getting out of the rough.
