TecFlo™ Progressive Set Technology

Advanced construction technologies combine to create the ultimate progressive irons that deliver tailored performance throughout the set.

Progressive Spin Technology

The new line of Cobra F8 irons builds off the success from the prior generation King F7. King F8 features three different head constructions; full hollow (4-7), cavity back (8-PW), and specialty wedge designs in the GW-LW to help players achieve more forgiveness, longer distance, and higher accuracy when needed. Lower CG for King F8 was achieved with shortened hosels and shallower faces than the F7 model.

The King F8 irons come standard with Cobra Connect Arccos shot tracking sensors. Arccos sensors help golfers track their stats, determine an accurate distance for each club, and much more through out their round.

With all of these impressive updates I was very enthusiastic to try out the King F8 irons. Below are my thoughts and opinions after a full testing session. Feel free to comment below and share your thoughts on the F8!

The Takeaway

The Cobra F8 irons have a forged PWRSHELL face design paired with a multi-material carbon fiber medallion, a lower profile construction (compared to the Cobra F7 irons) and variable length hosels for a progressive set of irons that launch higher with more clubhead speed. CNC milled grooves provide refined spin with shifting grove shapes from long to scoring irons.

The long and mid irons (4-7) have a fully hollow construction that generate greater speeds and increased launch angles. The scoring irons (8-PW) feature a cavity-back design and have a two-piece carbon fiber insert and medallion for softer, yet more solid feel that delivers improved accuracy on approach. While the wedges have a specialty design with a carbon fiber insert for improved feel and precision around the greens.

Like the F7 irons, the Cobra F8 irons are available in a single-length version. The main improvement to the ONE Length version lies in their shafts. The lower-lofted irons have more tip flexibility for higher launch and less tip flexibility in higher-lofted irons to control a ballooning ball flight.

Who's It For?

7 to 24 handicap golfers with moderate to higher swing speeds. The F8 irons have a nice balance and are a great choice for players looking to play an iron that offers better feel with forgiveness that keeps up with their improving game.

Final Take

These irons are long! The Cobra F8 irons are a pretty successful attempt to bring solid feel and forgiveness to a distance iron. Overall the F8 irons have a confidence inspiring shape with a nice feel. The low CG paired with the XP 90 shaft launched the ball quickly, producing a ball flight that flattened out and hung at a normal peak height. The forged face and carbon fiber insert gave my hands a smooth feedback and I was able to work the ball to the left and right. Misses tended to only lose a little bit of distance and I had no problem keeping ball speeds up on off-center hits.

For the most part, I enjoyed the cosmetics of the F8 irons. The fairly conservative carbon fiber insert visually sits well in the cavity and does not mute the sound too much, but the 7 iron did have a little bit of a hollowness to the thump at impact. Although the top line isn’t so thick that it looks like an oversized game improvement iron, it is on the thicker, more confidence-inspiring side. One cosmetic piece with a function is the bottom groove. It is the only groove with white fill and is the width of a golf ball to help players line up on the sweet spot at address. If you’re looking for that distance you lost
