Ping G Crossover (4.90), Reviews (10)
The new for 2016, PING G-Series Crossover is the best of both worlds. It has the ball speed, distance, and trajectory of a hybrid; distance control, spin, and accuracy of an iron.

Ping G Crossover

A New Category.

PING created a new category - the Crossover - to combine the precision, workability and control of an iron with the speed and forgiveness of a hybrid. It's not a driving iron; the Crossover is far more forgiving, higher launching and more versatile. An innovative cascading internal sole engages the entire face, sole and top rail in flexing to maximize distance.

Flat Face
The iron-like design provides workability and distance control.

Carpenter 455 Face
This strong alloy ensures consistency in the face design for higher launching, longer results.

Low, Back CG Position
Provides forgiveness, higher maximum height, and helps the ball land softly on the green.

Tiered Internal Sole
Layers inside the sole distribute energy to the entire face for maximum bending and distance.

High MOI
An internal toe weight expands the perimeter-weighting for hybrid-like forgiveness.

Standard Graphite Shaft: Alta 70 High-Balance-Point

Have not upgraded clubs in 15 years. 18 handicaps. Big difference in length and control. Expensive.
5 Crossover ball flight
Had some trouble getting longer irons bal flight higher and this club solved the problem. Took my 5 iron out of the bag and now 6 is my lowest blade. Great club from Ping.
Hybrid Hater
Took 25 years off from playing golf. Traded my antique irons for Ping G20's. Asked the salesperson "Where are the 3 & 4 irons?". He explained 'hybrids'. So I got a 22°. Never could get used to it. Hit it like an iron or like a wood or something else? Considered 7 or 9 woods until I discovered Crossover 4. Love it. Hits same as my 5 iron. I'm no longer confused and finally happy!
Ping driving iron
I like the playability of the iron. One thing I do finding lacking is the iron does not seem to be able to have a high flight. Staying on greens can be difficult.
Outstanding, first time a club
Outstanding, first time a club has worked on the course as it did during demo.
Ping Cross Over 3-4-5
Sensational clubs--very easy to hit and good distance--by far they rank up with the best clubs I have ever bought--GREAT---
Ping Crossover
I really like the 4 Crossover because of the extra distance I get from it (compared to a 4-iron or 5-iron). The 4 Crossover is the lowest "iron/hybrid" in my golf bag and filled a gap between my fairway woods and new 5iron-SW Ping Gmax set. I definitely recommend it if you hit your irons better than hybrids.
I like the Ping Crossover 5 iron so much that I am going to order the 4 iron as well. I do wish the Golf Discount offered different size grips so I do not have to take my new clubs to have new grips put on.
