TaylorMade Research and Development engineers repositioned the current SLDR version fairway wood's weight more towards the front of the new SLDR S fairway wood to help move the SLDR S wood's center of gravity lower and more forward - for lower spin characteristics and yet still have all of TaylorMade's "loft up" SLDR distances. TaylorMade also added a new open channel speed pocket on the new SLDR S Fairway Wood that helps improve club headspeed by reducing turf resistance.
