GoLo 7 Dual Balance Putter

Unanchored equals unencumbered

Upon nearly two decades of high-speed video research with tour players that revealed that the best putters in the world keep the butt end of the putter pointed to the same 1-to2-inch circle in their midsection throughout the stroke, Scotty Cameron is releasing one of their most popular and steady putters ever - the GoLo 7 - in a dual balance model designed to promote such a stroke, with a 50-gram weight in the grip section of the putter and an additional 50 grams of putter head weight.

The GoLo 7 Dual Balance mallet-style putter has a beefier soleplate than the conventional model to accommodate for the additional 50 grams of weight. The extra weight helps keep golfers from “flipping,” “pushing” or leading the club head with their hands in the stroke, according to Scotty Cameron, the company’s master craftsman. “The purpose of anchoring a putter is to stop the butt end of the club from moving,” Cameron said. “Now that anchoring will be against the rules, we’ve determined the best way to help golfers regain that stability and control is through Dual Balance, by adding 50 grams to the shaft and balancing that with 50 grams in the head.”

According to Cameron, the proper length for a Dual Balance putter is about three inches longer than standard and the GoLo 7 Dual Balance putter is available in 38-inch lengths, three inches longer than the company’s standard length of 35 inches, however other lengths are available. The GoLo 7 Dual Balance also comes stock with a 15-inch flat-front Winn grip that has a colored section at the top that indicates proper hand placement. Gripping the putter in that way keeps the 50-gram counterweight above the hands for maximum counterbalancing effect.

Scotty Cameron Golo Counterbalanced
The counterbalanced phase in putters is here and I feel like it is here to stay. I got my hands on a Golo 7 from Scotty Cameron with the Dual Balance grip which is their counterbalanced model. I have to say I am impressed with the feel and weight given from this putter. The flow from which this putter moves the stroke easy and efficient. Upgrading from the previous year's model the new finish gives new life to the putter and makes it stand out from the rest. The black sight line is easily seen on the sliver finish. I still feel like Scotty putters need to have less loft but this is a great putter regardless. Being a mallet I feel like there is tons of control with the speed, add that the the counterbalance and you should have no troubles making putts.
