D200 Irons

Designed for Distance

  • Speed Sole Technology creates a thin face-to-sole transition, yielding a driver-like CT of 234. This cutout allows the iron face to flex, especially lower where most impacts occur, for extreme distances.
  • Heel and toe weight pods provide a larger sweet spot and more forgiveness. A satin finish on the pods show where the weight is positioned on the exterior of the club head.
  • The Right Light Technology, which uses the limited available mass to create a balanced, solid-feeling club, allows Distance players to swing faster with the same effort.
  • Recoil Technology within the stock UST Mamiya Elements Chrome graphite shaft optimizes the spring effect and promotes the most efficient energy transfer from butt to tip to maximize ball speed and reduce ball dispersion.

New Wilson 200 Clubs
I've noticed an improvement in my game. Love the clubs and the price.
D200 Wilson Staff
Strong, heavy feel I really like. I feel like I still get 80% to 90% on my frequent miss hits 😬. Excellent price and well worth the money. I was going to get the D300s but reviews from other people said they were sticking with their D200s after trying the D300s. I'm a very average golfer and I feel the D200s provide me with all the fire power I'm capable of. I tried all kinds of mid range price clubs before buying and they all felt the same based on my inabilities. Highly recommend the D200s to the weekend warrior. As a bonus, they look cool too.
The Wilson Staff D200 irons
The Wilson Staff D200 irons are well made and a benefit to the golfer who isn't scratch and doesn't play ever day, as they are forgiving when it comes to many miss-hits. I think it is a great value for the price.

The Takeaway

The Wilson D200 is a part of Wilson’s distance family. The technology comes from heel and toe weight pods, which puts weight in the perimeter of the head for a larger sweet spot. Speed Sole Technology creates a thin face-to-sole transition that expands the sweet spot lower in the face for driver-like distance. This expansion allows the face to flex, especially in the lower section where most impacts occur. Lastly, the Right Light Technology uses the limited available mass to create a balanced, solid feeling club, which allows distance players to swing faster with the same effort.

Who's It For?

These models are mostly for beginners and semi-beginners, and design-wise you can expect a very large footprint, a thick top line, lots of offset, a very wide sole, a large deep cavity and a lightweight shaft, either in steel or graphite. However, this reviewer had a blast testing them and based on the results that I witnessed would have zero issues playing them.

Final Take

The larger head design really stands out when you put the D200 in your hands. It offers you a clean, simple shape while maintaining that oversized look. One swing and I noticed the incredibly quick launch angle it produced. So much so that it wowed me over and over again after each strike. Aside from that, the club was very solid and produced a consistent feel and distance. Looking over the design, my guess is that the weight pods enhanced the launch angle which can really benefit the type of players that are looking at sets from this category.
