The Cobra F8 irons build on the success of the prior generation King F7. The F8 line uses three different head constructions across the set: full hollow in the 4-7 irons, cavity back in 8-PW, and specialty wedge designs in the GW-LW, aiming for more forgiveness, longer distance, and better accuracy where each is needed most. A lower center of gravity comes courtesy of shortened hosels and shallower faces compared to the F7.

The King F8 also comes standard with Cobra Connect Arccos shot-tracking sensors, which help golfers track stats, dial in accurate club distances, and more throughout a round.

With all of that on paper, I was genuinely excited to get the King F8 irons out for a full testing session. Here's what I found.

Cobra King F8 Irons

Club tested: 7 iron. Shaft: True Temper XP90. Flex: Stiff. Loft: 29.5°

The Takeaway

The Cobra F8 irons pair a forged PWRSHELL face with a multi-material carbon fiber medallion, a lower profile than the F7, and variable-length hosels across a progressive set built to launch higher with more clubhead speed. CNC-milled grooves shift shape from long irons to scoring irons, refining spin where it matters most for each.

The long and mid irons (4-7) use a fully hollow construction for higher speed and launch. The scoring irons (8-PW) go cavity-back with a two-piece carbon fiber insert and medallion for a softer, more solid feel and better accuracy on approach. The wedges carry their own specialty design, with a carbon fiber insert tuned for feel and precision around the greens.

Like the F7, the F8 is also available in a single-length version. The main upgrade in the ONE Length version is in the shafts: more tip flexibility in the lower-lofted irons for a higher launch, and less flexibility in the higher-lofted irons to keep ball flight from ballooning.

Who's It For?

7 to 24 handicap golfers with moderate to higher swing speeds. The F8 has a nice overall balance and suits players looking for an iron that blends feel with forgiveness as their game improves.

Final Take

These irons are long. The Cobra F8 is a genuinely successful attempt at bringing solid feel and forgiveness to a distance iron. Overall, it has a confidence-inspiring shape with a good feel. The low CG paired with the XP90 shaft launched the ball quickly, with a flight that flattened out and held at a normal peak height. The forged face and carbon fiber insert gave smooth feedback in hand, and I was able to work the ball both ways without issue. Mishits only cost a little distance, and ball speed held up well even on off-center strikes.

I liked the cosmetics overall. The carbon fiber insert sits well in the cavity without muting sound too much, though the 7 iron did have a slight hollow tone at impact. The top line isn't so thick that it looks like an oversized game-improvement iron, but it does lean toward the thicker, more confidence-inspiring side. One nice functional touch: the bottom groove is the only one with white fill, sized to the width of a golf ball to help with address alignment on the sweet spot.
