Chris Gotterup Charges to John Deere Classic Victory with Brilliant Final Round
Chris Gotterup delivered one of the best rounds of the week on Sunday, firing a spectacular 9-under 62 to rally from five shots back and win the John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run. Finishing at 20-under par, Gotterup edged Max Homa by one stroke to claim his third PGA Tour victory of the 2026 season and continue what has become a breakout campaign.
Starting the day well behind the leaders, Gotterup caught fire with a bogey-free final round that included nine birdies, posting the lowest score of the tournament. His clubhouse lead held up after late drama unfolded on the 18th hole, where the chasing pack was unable to force a playoff.
The victory adds another milestone to an already remarkable season. After opening the year with wins at the Sony Open and the WM Phoenix Open, Gotterup has firmly established himself as one of the PGA Tour’s hottest players, collecting three victories before the season’s midway point.
Still just 26 years old, Gotterup has quickly risen through the professional ranks since turning pro in 2022. A former standout at Rutgers and Oklahoma, he earned his first PGA Tour title in 2024 before adding victories in the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open and now three more wins in 2026. With another trophy in hand and his confidence at an all-time high, Gotterup is rapidly becoming one of golf’s emerging stars.
