Wyndham Clark Captures Second U.S. Open Title in Gritty Shinnecock Triumph

Wyndham Clark is once again a U.S. Open champion. Clark survived a dramatic final round at Shinnecock Hills on Sunday to claim the 2026 U.S. Open, finishing at 4-under par and edging Sam Burns by a single stroke. After entering the day with a commanding six-shot lead, Clark faced relentless pressure as Burns, and others, mounted a charge.

The 32-year-old stumbled early, watching his advantage shrink to just one shot on the front nine. But when the championship hung in the balance, Clark delivered. A clutch birdie on the par-5 16th restored breathing room, giving Clark a 2 shot lead. Despite a tense finish, Clark held his nerve to become the first player since 2014 to lead the U.S. Open after every round and win wire-to-wire.

The victory marks Clark’s second U.S. Open championship, adding to his breakthrough major title at LACC in 2023. Winning the U.S. Open is never easy, and Clark’s determined performance at one of the sport’s toughest venues showcased the resilience and championship mentality required to lift one of golf’s most prestigious trophies.
