At The Masters, history was written once again as Rory McIlroy captured his second consecutive Green Jacket, holding off a surging Scottie Scheffler to win by a single stroke at Augusta National.

McIlroy finished at 12-under par, closing with a steady final-round 71. The win capped a dramatic week at Augusta. McIlroy surged to a commanding lead early in the tournament, saw it disappear on Saturday, and then battled through a tightly packed leaderboard on Sunday.

The final round was anything but smooth. An early double bogey threatened to derail his momentum, but McIlroy responded like a champion. Key birdies at pivotal moments—particularly through Augusta’s famed Amen Corner—shifted control back in his favor and ultimately proved decisive. 

World No. 1, Scottie Scheffler, mounted a fierce charge with a bogey-free weekend and a final-round 68, but his late push fell just short as McIlroy steadied himself down the stretch. 

With the victory, McIlroy secured his sixth career major win and joined an elite group of legends to win back-to-back Masters titles, becoming the first to do so since Tiger Woods in 2002.
